Club Brugge goes all out: second summer signing is already a fact

Club Brugge is currently preparing for the second leg of the semi-finals of the Conference League, after which the focus will return to the title race. Yet Blauw-Zwart appears to be behind the scenes while already working on next season. After Ardon Jashari, it has acquired a second summer signing.

While there is another newcomer in the pipeline with defender Zaid Romero, Club is already spoiling the fans with happy news. It has been announced through official channels that Nordin Jackers has signed a contract with Jan Breydel. The 26-year-old goalkeeper is now contracted there until mid-2027.

Jackers signs in Bruges

Jackers was hired from OH Leuven last summer, where he ended up sidetracked. Club also stipulated a purchase option in that deal, which, according to the Leuven residents, has now been exercised, meaning he is making the switch permanently. The final piece is currently in the doldrums with a minor groin injury.

Jackers got plenty of opportunity from Nicky Hayen thanks to the absence of Simon Mignolet. One that he grabbed with both hands: in 13 appearances, the Limburger kept a clean sheet six times. In addition to a number of excellent saves, Jackers also impressed with his excellent foot play.

Mignolet’s successor?

It was therefore suggested here and there that he might want to capitalize on his excellent performances by taking his chance elsewhere as a permanent holder, but for the time being Jackers seems to be content with a status as a duplicate for Mignolet. His contract in Bruges expires a year earlier.

Who knows, maybe Club will go all Jackers’ way. In any case, both parties decided to extend the successful collaboration. What that means for the future of Josef Bursik, who was brought in at the time as a backup for Mignolet, is still a question mark.
