RSC Anderlecht is currently preparing for the home match against KRC Genk, which could again be a key moment in the title battle. However, sporting boss Jesper Fredberg is also busy with the upcoming summer mercato. RSCA is in danger of losing several players.

Regardless of the outcome of the title battle, Anderlecht wants to make a successful return to the European stage next season. And this requires a selection that is sufficiently armed in terms of breadth. Extra reinforcement is therefore not an unnecessary luxury. In addition, it is not easy to keep the current selection intact as much as possible.

Certain players, such as Thomas Delaney, Ludwig Augustinsson and Federico Gattoni, are currently on loan. Renegotiations will therefore have to take place to possibly retain them. Other boys are preparing for a new step in their career. Zeno Debast in particular seems ready for a nice transfer.

Experienced forces

In addition, there is also uncertainty about the expiring contracts of some experienced employees. Jan Vertonghen, for example, has still not decided whether he will continue as a professional footballer. We’ll have to wait and see what impact his recent injury will have on that decision. And Kasper Schmeichel’s future also looks uncertain at the moment.

The Danish international was snapped up at the end of the summer mercato. Although Anderlecht already had a suitable goalkeeper in Maxime Dupé, he was immediately given the opportunity as number one. And after several inconsistent months, Schmeichel has become one of the pillars in coach Brian Riemer’s team in recent weeks.

Doubling salary

Nevertheless, it is far from certain that he will stay. According to La Dernière Heure, the club wants to continue with Schmeichel. And an extension of his contract would not do him any harm financially. The Dane could earn at least 500,000 euros per year, doubling his current salary. However, Schmeichel will hold off for the time being and may continue to do so until the end of the European Championship. That is why Anderlecht is already exploring alternative options, such as Daniel Peretz, third goalkeeper at Bayern Munich.
