The Greek top club recorded a strong victory against tournament favorite Aston Villa. After half an hour Olympiakos had a double bonus after two goals from El Kaabi.

Yet the English did not simply give in. In extra time of the first half, Watkins scored the tying goal, a few minutes after half-time Diaby scored the equalizer.

But anyone who thought that Aston Villa would then progress was disappointed. Immediately after the 2-2 El Kaabi again gave the visitors the lead. And ten minutes later, Hezze completely quieted the packed Villa Park with the 2-4.

The home team had the chance to halve the deficit in the final minutes, but Douglas Luiz missed a penalty.
