Peter Sagan (34) will make his return to the peloton during the Tour of Hungary (8 to 12 May) after heart problems. The Slovakian will compete for the first time for Pierre Baguette Cyling, created for and by him.
At the end of last year it was announced that Sagan ended his career in the World Tour, but that he continued to race for Pierre Baguette Cycling, founded by and for him, where his brother Juraj is in charge of the sport.
The intention was to have Sagan compete in two stage races in preparation for the Paris Olympics, where he wants to shine one last time in mountain biking. The time will be next Thursday. Sagan will appear at the start of the Tour of Hungary with his team – which consists only of Slovak and Czech riders.
The three-time world road champion has been struggling with heart problems in recent months. Nothing threatening, says Sagan, but he had to go under the knife twice for this.
