At RSC Anderlecht, coach Brian Riemer is currently preparing his troops for next Sunday’s title clash against Union. In the meantime, work is already underway behind the scenes towards the coming season. For example, sporting boss Jesper Fredberg is examining various transfer files.

RSCA underwent an impressive resurrection this season. Where they finished dismal in eleventh place last year, the record champion is now alone in the lead with seven matchdays to go. The Purple & White owe this impressive rebirth not least to the past summer mercato.

Fredberg managed to provide the selection with an enormous quality boost during that transfer period and the benefits are now being reaped. But although his club is currently fighting for the title, the Danish CEO Sports is not sitting still. After all, another big challenge awaits him next summer.

Broad core needed

Barring a huge upheaval, Anderlecht will make its return to the European stage next season. And that is where it wants to show itself. Especially within UEFA’s new format. This new format does provide a number of extra competitions. And so the purple-white selection must also be sufficiently strong in width.

RSCA is already working on the necessary reinforcement. In addition, the Purple & White also hopes to keep mercenary Thomas Delaney. That midfielder is having a fairly changeable second half of the season, but continues to play an important role with all his experience. And his case appears to have gained momentum.

Negotiations underway

According to Diario Seville Negotiations are currently underway between Anderlecht and parent club Sevilla FC. The Purple & White hopes to reduce the price as much as possible, while the Spaniards hope for at least 2 million euros. An agreement will then also have to be reached on the personal terms and conditions. However, it is already clear that RSCA will not be able to meet his current salary. But according to ASH they would like to solve this by offering Delaney a longer contract, so that his wages are spread over a longer period.
