PSV is heading for a record season and Johan Bakayoko certainly has his share in that. The young Red Devil was already about to leave last summer, but absolutely wanted to play the Champions League with PSV first. This summer, the people of Eindhoven want the jackpot.
However, not everyone agrees with the price tag hanging around Bakayoko’s neck. 35 million euros will not be enough to remove him. Kenneth Perez, ex-football player and now analyst for ESPN, can’t understand it.
“I hear great amounts, but isn’t that quite a lot of money for a player who has only done well for one year? These are ridiculous amounts,” said Perez. “And he’s only playing because Noni Madueke (Chelsea) and Cody Gakpo (Liverpool) left.”
There is still too much work for Perez to go to an absolute top club now. “Now 35 million is no longer enough. We think it is ridiculous if PSV would let him go for that money.”
As manager of a top club, the Dane would not accept him. “He is very talented, great to watch and really passionate about his profession, but he also had a six-week dip.”
“Then he only played for himself, without goals and assists. That may not be a bad thing, but it is for a player worth more than 45 million euros.”
