Christian Burgess usually makes a difference, but yesterday he did his best. In addition to his red card, he also provided a remarkable moment that made all of Genk crazy.

Wouter Vrancken went crazy on the sidelines. What had happened? Burgess was given the ball by goalkeeper Anthony Moris on a kick-out, but had no better option than to put the ball well with his hand and then continue playing.

At Genk everyone walked to referee Laforge, who had also seen the bizarre scene, but covered it with the cloak of love. At Genk, however, everyone asked for a penalty and Vrancken couldn’t believe his eyes when they didn’t get one.

It’s a phase we’ve never seen before. But the regulations are clear: Genk should indeed have received a penalty. That is of course seen as a handball in the box.

Laforge, however, did not want to push it too far because there was no Genk danger or pressure at that moment. But technically he should always have given that penalty.

In the spirit of the match, he didn’t want it to end that way. But Genk’s anger is understandable. After all, they have already been let down by the regulations at Anderlecht.
