Simon Mignolet has had many successes at Club Brugge, but over the past two years there has been a coming and going of trainers who were unable to push through their vision. Or whose vision did not fit with blue-black.
Mignolet has seen five of them in the last two years. “Everyone was very complimentary about Schreuder. And if Carl (Hoefkens, ed.) had been a little better surrounded, things would have turned out a lot differently,” he said. HLN.
He doesn’t have much good to say about Scott Parker. The Englishman was not feeling well in the dressing room. “Then someone came and it was ‘his way or the highway’ – that was clearly not the way.”
“De Mil subsequently guided us to play-off 1 despite his inexperience, after which we ended up in a bit of the same decline under Deila as under Scott Parker.”
Mannaert
Mignolet also cites the departure of Vincent Mannaert as a reason that it did not work out. “Deila did try to make more compromises, but it wasn’t like anyone had influence over him.”
“He said: ‘It’s going in the wrong direction.’ Preventing the problem was not an issue at all under Deila. That’s why he said: ‘I missed Vincent Mannaert.'”
