Youri Tielemans had to leave the field before half an hour against Chelsea. After an injury to his groin he had to be substituted, much to his frustration. Will it be a race against time to get fit for the European Championships? Or is it still not that bad?

These are important weeks for Aston Villa: the semi-finals of the Conference League are coming up and the club is on course to finish 4th in the Premier League and thus qualify for the Champions League.

But Youri Tielemans might have to miss that crucial final sprint.

Tielemans suddenly lay down on the ground just before the half-hour mark, feeling for his left groin. He immediately realized what time it was and took out his frustrations with his fists on the turf.

The Red Devil was eventually able to leave the field under his own power, but his face looked like thunder. Earlier this season he was out for a month with a calf injury.

Not only Villa coach Unai Emery will pray that his midfielder’s injury will not be too bad. Belgian national coach Domenico Tedesco may also light a candle, because Tielemans emphatically applied for a starting place at the European Championship with his top form.

It was a double blow for Aston Villa, as they gave up a 2-0 lead against Chelsea. Chelsea deserved a point and even saw the 2-3 score disallowed. Tottenham can close in on Villa, but they must win tomorrow’s charged North London derby against Arsenal.
