What was it like to put yourself in The mole to see?

“I’m enthusiastic, I think that’s clear. Last week I was in Café De Mol: 24 percent of people suspected me. That probably disappeared quickly during the first broadcast, even if I had gotten a green screen. Everyone probably realized: Gillian is certainly not the mole.”

You picked up olives a little too enthusiastically for that.

“Yes, I was really tired afterwards.”

You did not press fast enough for the video, which meant that your chance of an exemption was lost. Then you lost weight because someone with just as many wrong answers completed the test a little faster. Speed is a thing.

“I wasn’t going to press that button anyway. And you need every second to complete the questionnaire. If you do it faster, you might not get that question right and you might be out as well. It’s a shame, but I wouldn’t have done it differently.”

You were doing yoga while the other group was busy with the mole book. Were those the right priorities?

“Sometimes you just need to relax, right?” (laughs)

What was the highlight of your three days in Sicily?

“We have the biggest episode 1 group spot ever. That’s all in my name, right? (grins) The best moment was when I found the hidden doubler during dinner. In retrospect, I might have been happier with a personal benefit, then I might have stayed longer.”

Is to participate in The mole as you expected?

“I have always been an avid mole hunter. It’s different when you get to participate: you quickly get to know everyone very well. If someone is always positive and suddenly negative in a test, this is noticeable. The search for the mole dominated everything: I was busy with it 24/7, even in my sleep. You take off your blindfold and you’re in the game.

“Even after the red screen, my night’s sleep was not that good. All kinds of things were going through my head: shouldn’t I have bet everything on my main suspect? If that person turns out to be the mole, I have missed a golden opportunity to win the game.”

You then had to hide for three weeks. How?

“I’m in hiding with my computer and have Baldur’s Gate 3 played out.”

The messiah returns to Gullegem. Do you have a message for Flanders?

“Everyone come to Gullegem if there is something to do. I hope I have put my hometown on the map. There are already people in our region who know Gullegem as a lively parish. I have For a moment lived in East Flanders, I have already proclaimed the word there. Now Antwerp, Limburg and Flemish Brabant.”

Can we expect a second coming?

“I will only be seen in the reunion episode, unfortunately. I am really looking forward to seeing my friends again. You experienced something unique with those people. You want to grab them and make a griddy doing.”

You left the rest of the group in shock. You quickly became the darling of the group, didn’t you?

“Gosh, darling… I think like Gilles De Coster says: I’m the loudest. People know who I am very quickly. I think we were a wonderful group, they are all great people and friends for life. I hope for many more fun moments together.”

Too bad we have to miss you already.

“I think it’s a shame too. Next week I will be a Flemish again and I will search for the mole, like the rest.”
