This afternoon the cup final between Union and Antwerp will take place at Heysel. This morning, many supporters prepared to go to Brussels together. In the meantime, the first Antwerp supporters have arrived at Heysel.
The match is getting closer. The first Antwerp supporters arrived at Heysel around noon. They wait for the stadium doors to open.
Marc, who is a strong Antwerp supporter himself, brings his friends to Heysel. “I’m Bob for the day. It’s a shame I can’t enjoy a beer during the match, but I will enjoy it when they hold the cup in the air,” he said. Antwerp’s players also have the support of Sergio Herman. He turns up in café Panache in Antwerp to follow the match.
This morning, many supporters in Antwerp prepared to leave for Brussels. The Operaplein, among other places, was full of Antwerp supporters who walked together to the station. There they all took the train to Brussels. But supporter groups have also left from Café Foxy. Among them a group of friends from the Scouts from Deurne. The friends enjoyed a delicious breakfast together with 150 other supporters before boarding the bus to Heysel. But 325 supporters also gathered at Leeuwlant in Deurne this morning. They sold t-shirts for 18.80 euros with the inscription ‘Cup final ’24’. Around 11 o’clock they boarded the buses for Brussels. “We are looking forward to. Whatever the outcome, we are proud of our players and the story they are writing.”
