The criminal court in Antwerp sentenced two perpetrators of an attack in Wilrijk to five and four years in prison on Wednesday. Two years ago, the home of a notorious ex-porter was shot at.

On April 3, 2022, around 4:40 am, a shot was fired at the front door of a house on Boomsesteenweg. The firearm used was dumped by the shooter and was later found by children playing. The targeted home was that of Marzouk D., a notorious bouncer from the Antwerp nightlife scene, but also linked to drug trafficking. A week before the shooting, the D. family was already the target of an arson attack.

Two Dutch people, Luciano H. and Yahrizio V., came into the picture through telephone research, camera images and DNA research. H. admitted that he had been recruited to shoot at the house, V. stated that H. had asked him to do “something fun”. It was only when H. fired the shot that V. said he realized what he had become involved in.

The criminal court sentenced Luciano H. to five years in prison on Wednesday, one year more than had been requested. Yahrizio V. received four years in prison. Both were also fined 2,000 euros and must pay around 9,000 euros in compensation to the D family. (sare)
