Luxembourg is up for the first half of the Eurovision Song Contest final. That became clear on Tuesday evening during the draw after the first semi-final.

Ireland and Lithuania also drew the first part of the final. Cyprus, Finland and Slovenia appear on stage in the second half on Saturday.

The last four finalists Croatia, Portugal, Serbia and Ukraine have to wait two more days before they know when it is their turn. They drew the so-called ‘producer’s choice’, a new idea from the Swedish Eurovision Song Contest organization.

Big Five

The responsible producer of the Swedish broadcaster SVT will soon be able to classify these countries as he sees fit. That has always been the case, but until now each country drew lots to determine which part of the final it would end up in. When determining the order, one of the things considered is whether there is enough variation in the TV show.

The countries of the so-called Big Five were previously classified. Germany and the United Kingdom are in the first part, France received the second part and Italy and Spain drew the production choice. Only host country Sweden already knows the starting position: Marcus & Martinus kick off the final on Saturday with the song Unforgettable.
