Antwerp

Every weekday our reporter and photographer pick a random passerby from the street for a nice conversation. Because everyone has a story. And certainly in Antwerp. Today: Virginia Pareto (29) and Lorenzo Brunetti (29).

“Over the next ten days we will explore the Low Countries by bike. We started our trip in Brussels. From there it went to Leuven and then to Antwerp.”

“Before we continue our tour, we will visit some picturesque places in the city center. Of course, the Cathedral should not be missed. Later we will drive further towards Rotterdam, the day after tomorrow towards Amsterdam. We try to do that in one go, although it is far from obvious.”

“For Italians it is no easy feat to cycle here. The weather is abysmal. We see locals cycling like it is nothing, so we try to copy that attitude.”

“We didn’t train a mile. We live in Turin, where we often exercise in the mountains. So it will not be due to our physical condition. The weight of the bicycle is the biggest difficulty. However, we only have the bare essentials.”

“Next time we will probably opt for a slightly warmer destination elsewhere in Europe. This is not for us.”
