Keerbergen

In Keerbergen, John Lambrechts has already started his election campaign for Voor U in a fun way. He travels around with a thirty-year-old hearse in which he wants to take Vivaldi and Open VLD to the crematorium.

For years he was active in Keerbergen within the Open VLD. Six years as alderman and six years as chairman of the OCMW. Until John Lambrechts turned his back on the party in 2006 due to internal struggles and no longer participated in political life.

Almost 20 years later he reappears on the political stage. For example, he stands as a candidate for the Chamber of Representatives, not for Open VLD – the party that he claims has put him aside – but as a list pusher for the new political party Voor U. “Out of indignation for what Vivaldi has done in recent years.” done,” he says.

His new political commitment did not go unnoticed in his own region. For a few days now he has been driving around in a 30-year-old hearse, with some unmistakable messages on it. “I take Vivaldi to the crematorium,” he says in an accompanying funny video.

There is a logical explanation for the fact that he delivers his message with a special car. He has been supplying all possible vehicles for films and television series for years. “The first car I delivered like this was the car in front Merlina”, he reflects. The old hearse had also served in a film, until it may now get the role of a lifetime. “Everywhere I go with that car, I get positive reactions,” says Lambrechts. “People smile and give them a thumbs up.”

At Open VLD Keerbergen, his old party, they can already laugh about it. “We are still very much alive in Keerbergen,” responded Alderman Jens Eggers.
