From ‘Game of Thrones’ to ‘Harry Potter’: streaming channel HBO Max launched in Belgium from July 1 | TV

TVFrom July 1, Belgium will have a new streaming service. HBO Max, the platform of studio Warner Bros., will be launched in our country from today. The channel has been available in the Netherlands for a year longer.

On HBO Max you can of course watch the series from the HBO channel, including hits such as ‘Game of Thrones’, the accompanying spin-off ‘House of the Dragon’, ‘The Last of Us’ and ‘Sex and the City’. But you can also watch the Paris 2024 Olympic Games live, as the only channel in Belgium that allows this.

HBO Max will give customers the opportunity to get early access to the payment plan they prefer for fourteen days at no cost starting June 11, before the full launch takes place on July 1. During this short start-up period, certain titles will only be available in English and French. From July 1, everything will also be available with Dutch subtitles.

The cheapest subscription is available for €5.99 per month and is called ‘Basic with advertising’. This means, as the name suggests, that you will still see some form of advertising even if you are a paying customer. According to Warner Bros., Telenet customers can get access to the HBO Max app soon after launch.

WHAT EXACTLY CAN YOU WATCH?

Series

The launch of HBO Max is accompanied by the highly anticipated second seasons of the HBO Original ‘House of the Dragon’ and ‘The Last of Us’. You will also find there ‘The White Lotus’, ‘Euphoria’, ‘True Detective: Night Country’, ‘The Regime’, ‘The Sympathizer’, ‘The Jinx Part Two’ and the upcoming new comedy ‘The Franchise’.

A new slate of so-called “Max Originals” series based on popular Warner Bros. titles will also debut on the platform, including ‘The Penguin’ and ‘Welcome to Derry’ (a reworking of Stephen King’s ‘IT’). A long-awaited TV remake of ‘Harry Potter’ will also be released soon, but filming is still underway.

Movies

Movies from Warner Bros. that will be on display include, among others ‘Wonka’, ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’ and ‘The Color Purple’. Also a whole series of films from the Warner Bros library. will be available, including the entire ‘Harry Potter’ series, ‘The Matrix’, ‘The Dark Knight’ and ‘Joker’.

Sport

This summer, HBO Max will also be the only place where you can watch the Paris 2024 Olympic Games live. A Sports Add-On also offers fans even more coverage of major international and European sports, including tennis Grand Slams such as Australian Open, Roland-Garros and the US Openthe three Grand Tours of the race: Giro d’Italia, La Vuelta a España and the Tour de France in addition to the Tour de France Femmesand all Cycling Monuments & Classics, the car race of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Snooker World Tour, the Golf PGA Tour and all major winter sports World Cups and World Cup events.
