It was a café owner who recognized him on another terrace on Sunday and informed the police. He was also arrested on Wednesday, May 1, after defrauding a number of catering establishments. But the police had to let him go every time, because the amounts involved were only small.
In the meantime, the man is said to have already struck at least 10 cafes and restaurants in Kortrijk. Reason enough for the police to draw up a file against him. “We already have 3 police reports against the man,” says Thomas Detavernier of the Vlas police zone. “And we also ask other possible victims to report it.
