Despite the extra police patrols, another fight broke out in Geraardsbergen on Monday afternoon. This time there was no violence at the station, but girls clashed at the school gate of a secondary school.

The fight at the station, in which a 16-year-old student and an older man were severely tackled by a youth gang on Thursday, is still reverberating in Geraardsbergen. Five perpetrators of this fight have now been arrested. Two of the aggressors have already been sent to a closed institution. The other three will appear before the juvenile judge this week.

Despite a protest against violence in the city on the weekly market day and the promised increased police patrols, a group of girls clashed at the school gate of a secondary school in Papiermolenstraat on Monday afternoon. During the brawl, blows were thrown and hair was pulled. The victim reported the incident to the police, where a report was drawn up.
