The chance that a World Cup will be organized in our country is increasing. A few months ago, Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany announced that they wanted to jointly organize the Women’s World Cup in 2027. One of the other three candidates has now withdrawn his candidacy.

A major tournament in men’s football is not imminent in Belgium. Yet there is a chance that a world championship will soon take place in our country. It concerns the Women’s World Cup in 2027. Together with the Netherlands and Germany, Belgium has officially submitted a candidacy.

In addition to “BNG”, Brazil and USA & Mexico also announced that they wanted to organize the World Cup. But the latter have now withdrawn their candidacy. The chance of a major tournament in Belgium therefore increases enormously.

  • If the three countries are allowed to host the World Cup, matches in Belgium will take place at the Planet Group Arena in Ghent, the Lotto Park in Anderlecht, the Cegeka Arena in Genk, and possibly in a new stadium in Charleroi.
  • The Netherlands has the Kuip in Rotterdam and the Johan Cruijff Arena in Amsterdam, while Germany can count on the stadiums of Borussia Dortmund and Schalke 04.
  • The United States and Mexico have withdrawn because they are already hosting the 2026 Men’s World Cup with Canada.
  • This makes Brazil the only country that still faces the European candidates.
  • The decision on the location of the Women’s World Cup will be announced on May 17 in Bangkok.
