In Antwerp, unknown people threw a firebomb at the front door of an apartment building on Tuesday morning. The Dovo mine clearance service and the judicial laboratory arrived on site. There appears to be a link with a previous stabbing.

The Harmonie district was shocked by an explosion around half past seven in the morning. “A fire bomb was thrown against the front door of an apartment building in Gounodstraat in Antwerp,” says Kim Bastiaens, spokesperson for the Antwerp police. “The damage was limited to the front door and the street. No one was injured.”

The police set up a perimeter and Gounodstraat was closed in both directions for a while. The Dovo mine clearance service and the forensic laboratory arrived on site for trace evidence.

The time of the attack, not in the middle of the night, already made the police suspect that there may not be a ‘classic’ link with the drug environment. That was also said in so many words later that day. According to our information, one of the residents of the targeted building had recently been involved in a stabbing and this attack may be linked to it.
