Unfortunately, the summer weather is taking a long time, but Bar Chapel doesn’t care about that. This weekend, the popular summer bar will open the doors of the hidden monastery garden in Kerkstraat, on the border of Antwerp North and Borgerhout, for the sixth time.
Initiators Sanne Van Riel and Ali Al Alaak are ready for a new summer in the monastery garden. “We will open our doors for the first time on May 3, 4 and 5,” says Van Riel enthusiastically. “Until August 30, we are creating an unbridled holiday atmosphere for everyone.”
Van Riel and Al Alaak rely on their success formula for this. “Every week we invite a caterer who prepares delicious street food. This year we will have several new chefs who will serve visitors Greek, Congolese and Ethiopian specialties.”
New this year is the weekly weekend brunch. “On Saturday and Sunday, people are welcome from 11 a.m. for summer dishes such as tacos, falafel pita or an acai bowl.”

“Otherwise, the concept remains unchanged. We are open seven days a week and will occasionally organize fun events to boost the vibes. Now we just hope for good weather, and then we are off again for a wonderful period.”
