Every week, the Video Games Federation Belgium (VGFB) provides us with a list of the top 5 best-selling games in Belgium.
In week 16 of 2024, the top 5 is almost completely different than a week ago and that is mainly due to the success of the Fallout live action TV series on Amazon Prime. After a disappointing Halo series at Paramount, expectations for Fallout were not high, but the show runners have remained very faithful to the video games.
The show was a huge success. Pre-production for season 2 has already started. The TV series has significantly increased the hype for the games. That is why both Fallout 4 and Fallout 76 are respectively the number 1 and 2 best-selling games of last week in Belgium. Fallout 76 is an open world multiplayer game that you can play with friends. Fallout 4 is a single-player RPG that also received a free next-gen upgrade from Bethesda Game Studios last week. This way you can dive into the Wasteland on a PlayStation 5 or an Xbox Series console and enjoy better graphics and performance.
At number 3 is GTA V, a game that has been selling fantastically for 10 years. In fact, GTA V still outsells many brand new games from major studios. GTA V is now very close to the milestone of 200 million copies sold. No premium game comes close to the figures of GTA V. GTA 6 may also not be able to match the impressive figures of GTA V.
At number 4 is a newcomer: No Rest for the Wicked from developer Moon Studios. This is a game made by the people behind the amazing Ori and the Blind Forest and Ori and the Will of the Whisps. However, No Rest for the Wicked is not a platformer but a challenging top down RPG. Many call it Dark Souls, but with a camera view of a Diablo game. No Rest for the Wicked is now playable in Early Access. The full release will take place later. The game will also be released on consoles.
Last at number 5 in terms of last week’s best-selling game is Helldivers 2. A huge live service game success for Sony and developer Arrowhead Game Studios. In Helldivers 2 you play a soldier who must protect Super Earth from evil aliens on distant planets. You do this by conquering surrounding planets together with other players and driving away aliens. Helldivers 2 is playable on PC and PlayStation 5. The developer is constantly releasing updates with new threats, but also new ways to fight the enemy. For example, mechs have recently been added to the game.
