Brussels Premier Padel breaks records: “Interest in padel is clearly on the rise”

In recent days, the Lotto Brussels Premier Padel (Belgium, P2) has had a record turnout. For organizer Vincent Laureyssens, however, this is just the beginning. “We can expect further growth,” he said.

On Tuesday, when the final qualifying round was completed in the Brussels Gare Maritime, the Brussels Premier Padel welcomed 5,000 visitors, a first record for a Tuesday. A day later, op Belgian Daya second record was set and no fewer than 10,000 enthusiastic supporters – more than 2,000 more than last year – descended on the Belgian capital.

“I am very pleased that we can welcome so many visitors,” tournament director Vincent Laureyssens responds enthusiastically. “This shows that there is a great interest in padel and that we can expect further growth.”

Today the quarter-finals are on the program and again a massive turnout is expected.

All Belgian wildcards are now out of the tournament. Maxime Deloyer (FIP-166) and Clément Geens (FIP-123) lost 2-6 and 3-6 to seventh seeds Maximiliano Sanchez (FIP-21) and Carlos Daniel Gutierrez (FIP-10) from Argentina.

Bram Coene (FIP-558) and Joris De Weerdt (FIP-733) were eliminated a day earlier.

In the women’s race, An-Sophie Mestach (FIP-150) and Helena Wyckaert (FIP-98) were no match for Alix Collombon (France, FIP-28) and Julieta Bidahorria (Argentina, FIP-48): 2-6 and 3- 6.
