Brussels Airlines cancels eight outward and return flights on Thursday due to the air traffic controllers’ strike in France. Other European flights may also be delayed, the airline reported on Wednesday.

French air traffic control will stop work on Thursday because negotiations with management about a reorganization have failed. Major disruption is certainly expected: two-thirds to three-quarters of flights at the Parisian airports of Roissy-Charles de Gaulle and Orly should be canceled.

The French strike is also making itself felt at Brussels Airlines. “Due to the strike by air traffic controllers in France, we will unfortunately have to cancel eight flights tomorrow (eight return flights). This concerns destinations within France, such as Marseille, Lyon, Nice and Toulouse,” said spokesperson Nico Cardone.

The airline warns that other flights on the European network may also be delayed due to the strike. “This concerns, for example, flights to Spain and Portugal that will not be able to use French airspace,” it said.

The French unions also want to stop work during the extended Ascension weekend on May 9, 10 and 11. These actions may also have consequences for Brussels Airlines flights.
