An accident happened on the E313 towards Antwerp on Thursday near Massenhoven (Zandhoven). Three cars collided with each other. Traffic has to pass over the emergency lane, which causes long traffic jams.
The accident happened around 10:45 am. According to initial reports, a van and two cars collided at the tail end of the traffic jam on the E313. Two passengers were reportedly injured and taken to hospital.
Due to the handling of the accident, the federal highway police had to temporarily close both lanes. Traffic had to pass on the emergency lane, which quickly made itself felt on the road. There is a long traffic jam in the direction of Antwerp. At the tail end of the traffic jam, a (smaller) accident also occurred near Herentals-West.
The Flemish Traffic Center therefore recommends long-distance traffic, from Hasselt to Ghent, to drive via Brussels. At 12.15 pm the accident in Massenhoven had been resolved and the roadway could be reopened.
