The Red Devils seemed to be on their way to a victory against England on Tuesday, but swallowed an equalizer at the end. Philippe Albert takes a closer look at the Devils’ performance.

The Devils took the lead through Youri Tielemans. He scored calmly after a mistake by England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford. Ivan Toney equalized shortly afterwards from the spot after a foul by Jan Vertonghen.

Devils give it away in closing

The same Tielemans gave the Devils a new lead before half-time. He headed in wonderfully on a brilliant assist from Romelu Lukaku. The Devils seemed to take the win, but in the final match Jude Bellingham took advantage of the Belgian defense’s hesitant performance: 2-2.

All in all a good result against a European Championship favorite, although there was a victory in it. The Devils could count on strong Tielemans, but the defense remains a cause for concern. Philippe Albert calls on Domenico Tedesco and co.

Devils need to raise their level

According to Albert, the Devils will have to raise their level. “We still have to step up a few notches if we want to dream and achieve something,” he said RTBF. “We gave away a lot of chances against the Irish and the English. That is the most important lesson from these games.”

“The presence of Kevin De Bruyne will change a lot in midfield,” thinks Albert, who saw two more players excel. “Orel Mangala and Amadou Onana are indispensable.” On to the European Championships.
