As usual, the Netherlands goes to the European Championship with the ambition to win the tournament. But the players are not happy with the criticism they receive. One international is very displeased.
Simons boycotts the media
Xavi Simons could not yet convince the Dutch team. The midfielder, just like Loïs Openda at the Red Devils, does not reach the level of RB Leipzig. As a result, he has already received a lot of criticism.
The young midfielder decided to do what you should never do: a press boycott. He does not talk to the Dutch media because he feels unfairly treated. As a result, Simons is now receiving even more criticism.
Pascal Kamperman, reporter at ESPN, thinks it is a strange decision by Simons. “It’s a bit strange. Simons thinks there has been too much criticism of him. He said he doesn’t want to talk to the Dutch press. I don’t know if that’s all that useful,” he says.
Criticism from Janssen
Vincent Janssen spoke this week about the criticism from the Dutch media. He therefore does not want to return to the Eredivisie. Kamperman wonders about those statements.
“In the case of Simons, that is not after just one match, because in the Dutch team it is always not possible for him. Simons no longer wants to talk to the press, Janssen no longer wants to play in the Eredivisie… I would say: Let’s see it on the field first, then we will see further,” he added.
And so the Netherlands may go to the European Championship with a riot…
