About 2,000 primary school children danced and sang to the greatest symphonic melodies in the Henry Le Boeuf Hall in the Bozar on Monday afternoon during the interactive classical concert SING!. “Thanks to the live stream to wzc, this immediately became a unique intergenerational experience for young and old.”
SING! has been running since 2018 and every year offers thousands of Brussels children from 8 to 12 years old the opportunity to discover classical music. The project combines song, dance and multilingualism and offers a colorful show that combines music and dance movements to encourage children to explore classical music. (read more below the photo)
In 2022, SING! and expanded its audience to healthcare centers in Brussels and Flanders. A live stream was set up so that residents can fully enjoy the concert in their familiar environment, guided by animators. “This experience goes above and beyond the normal offering of the WZC,” says Herlinde De Vos of Cultuurconnect, which is responsible for streaming.
Children’s Hospital
“But the streaming can also be seen in a children’s hospital, for example. For children, this concert is a welcome change at such a time. In this way, it is also a unique intergenerational experience for young and old.” (read more below the photo)
In the months before the performance, teachers, animators and occupational therapists taught children and residents of nursing homes and children’s hospitals the movements and melodies that had been specially created for the concert. (read more below the photo)
“That also makes it a very interactive concert. In total, around seventy care centers and 25 cultural partners are participating in this story. The Belgian National Orchestra provides the music,” concludes De Vos. (amg)
