Against a weak Ireland, analyst Peter Vandenbempt even expected much more from an experimental team. The performance was certainly not worrying, because national coach Domenico Tedesco wanted to use this match to try things out.
Although Peter Vandenbempt does draw one very shocking conclusion, to show how experimental this Red Devils team was against Ireland.
“How many of the starting players against Ireland will kick off in the first European Championship match against Slovakia? Basically Wout Faes,” says Vandenbempt at Sporza. “I would also mention Timothy Castagne in principle, but Saturday’s Castagne could well be overtaken by Saturday’s Meunier.”
