(ABM FN) The Brussels stock exchange is on a steady rise on Wednesday. Around two o’clock the Bel20 index was 0.4 percent higher at 3,844.11 points.

ADP’s jobs report will follow this afternoon, followed by the official report on Friday. Furthermore, the purchasing managers’ indices for the American services sector are on the menu this afternoon, as are the weekly oil inventories and an appearance by Fed Chairman Jerome Powell.

Solvay and Syensqo led on Wednesday with gains of 3.8 and 2.9 percent. D’Ieteren and Argenx gained 1.5 and 1.0 percent. Galapagos fell by 0.3 percent and UCB by 1.3 percent. Elia lost 1.9 percent and Lotus Bakeries even had to lose 2.0 percent.

WDP became half a percent more expensive after a purchase recommendation from Barclays.

In the BelMid, Tessenderlo rose 5.3 percent. Tessenderlo will buy back 2.3 million of its own shares. Aperam became 2.4 percent more expensive, but Orange Belgium and Azelis fell 1.1 and 1.3 percent.

Among the small caps, Sequana Medical went 6.9 percent in the green after it published positive study results in the European Journal of Heart Failure. Nextensa became 4.7 percent more expensive, but Onward Medical lost 2.0 percent.
