Michaël aka Mickey Mo(le) is the mole

Michaël is the main suspect of the readers who completed the poll on demorgen.be in recent days. 41.9 percent of our readers think he is this season’s saboteur. The 41-year-old arborist seems like an over-enthusiastic candidate, which often makes his bungling seem sincere. But is that really so? Or has Michael made flashy moles his trademark? Our readers already see a great actor in Michaël. He barely brought any money into the group pot and always seems to fail when it counts.

“The messing around with the water pipes and making Senne stop racing while he still had one lap to go,” makes Michaël the number 1 suspect of Gemma Piette (76) from Tongeren.

For Gina Christiaens (24) from Kampenhout, it is mainly “the way he deals with everything with a smile” that makes him suspicious.

In the latest episode, the candidates were separated from each other for 24 hours. Charlotte descended Mount Etna on a mountain bike, Bernard met Red Devil Romelu Lukaku. And to make it completely absurd, Senne flew from Palermo to Melle in East Flanders to take a bath with Bernard’s mother. The only candidate who did not have to carry out an assignment during these 24 hours was Michaël. The ideal time to extensively brief the mole about the final?

And there is more. When Michael and Charlotte become apprentices to a puppeteer, he seems to have a hidden talent. He executes all movements flawlessly every time. Only – you guessed it – something goes wrong during the performance, causing him to miss out on 1,000 euros.

But the tip, according to our readers, is in the first episode. Michaël refers to Lynn as ‘dingske’, while the candidates had not even seen each other yet. Is Michael betraying here that he saw Lynn before? Because the mole naturally knows the candidates in advance.

Competition animal Bernard is the mole

30.6 percent of participating readers think that Bernard has been misleading us for weeks. However, he brought the most money into the group pot. Ever since the first episode, in which he appeared on two doubles, Bernard has presented himself as a real competitive animal. He always seems to go all out for the game, but this can of course be a good mole strategy. Bernard is already depicted as the least suspicious – which, according to our readers, is a valid theory.

The 33-year-old Bernard is said to sabotage in a subtle way: he often causes confusion and follows without resistance when another candidate is wrong. In the last episode, Bernard and Senne find themselves in the group that wants to take a step into the world. The catch: every step costs them a euro. Bernard wants to test this and takes no fewer than thirteen steps. He also walks all the way back to the cathedral once (to be sure of the answer). These are all steps that are lost. It is not a huge amount, but it is still unnecessarily wasted. And that seems to happen more often with Bernard.

Jean Pierre Paesen (63) from Pelt notes that Bernard, a teacher after all, gives a lot of wrong answers.

Then there’s this: Senne and Bernard narrowly managed to get a missing doll to Michaël and Charlotte on time. That missing puppet was Pinocchio, whose nose grows when he lies. The observant viewer saw that Pinocchio had a birthmark on his face. And who else has a birthmark like that, in exactly the same place? Yes, Bernard.

Stille Senne is the mole

Senne is the least suspicious among our readers. Barely 27.4 percent think he is the mole. But there is also a lot to be said about the youngest survivor. The 28-year-old social worker always does his best to complete the assignments successfully, but each time brings in precious little money. Senne always remains his cool self, exactly what a good mole should be able to do. Moreover, Senne often seems to be in a perfect position to influence the success or failure of an assignment. As a mole you naturally know where you can lose the most money.

Most of the suspicious matters regarding Senne are, again according to our readers, in episodes five and six. In episode five, Senne passes the doublers to candidate Lynn, who had no pass questions, and who had to leave the game immediately afterwards. Did Senne realize that Lynn did not suspect him and that her chance of a red screen was high?

In episode six, Senne’s mole book is shot and all valuable information about the past two weeks goes up in flames. Senne seems to get over this quickly and gets another green screen in the next two episodes. As a mole you obviously don’t need that booklet.

Do people already suffer from tunnel vision? Gert De Meester (46) from Mechelen has been in a Senne tunnel from the beginning. “He’s always in the right place to mess around!”

One thing is certain, the mole is male this year. But who is this saboteur and who will ultimately unmask him? We will know the answer next Sunday, May 12, on Play4.
