Fans are massively looking for Richard Gadd’s real stalker, after he told his story through the fictional series ‘Baby Reindeer’, recently shown on Netflix. Gadd was harassed for years by an older woman, whose identity is now widely shared on social media.

Muddling through comedian Richard Gadd was stalked by a woman twenty years his senior from 2015 to 2017. In two years, Gadd received 41,071 emails, 744 tweets, 46 Facebook messages, 106 letters and 350 hours of voicemails from his stalker. And then there were the presents: sleeping pills, boxer shorts and a toy reindeer.

He wrote the stories in the fiction series Baby reindeer, which is currently being viewed en masse on Netflix. In the series, comedian Donny is harassed by a stalker named Martha. Richard Gadd has always kept the real name of the stalker a secret. But some fans have brought out their inner stalker to unmask the real Martha.

The stalker wouldn’t be that hard to find, as her actions left a large digital trail. Fans are widely spreading the identity of the alleged stalker and sharing the many tweets she sent to the comedian.

“I am the victim”

The woman accused by fans claims that the comedian is obsessed with her, and not the other way around. “I am the victim. He wrote a damn show about me,” the woman reportedly told the British newspaper The Daily Mail. According to the real Martha, Gadd is now guilty of “bullying an older woman on television for fame and fortune” after facing “death threats and abuse from Richard Gadd’s supporters.”

The woman wrote hundreds of messages on Facebook last week, hoping to debunk the accusations. “We have never been friends and we have never had a relationship,” the alleged stalker wrote on Facebook. “He once asked me out and stalked me years ago. But I’m not interested in him. Some simply cannot deal with rejection,” he said. She says she is suing the makers of the series for defamation.

“Not the intention of our show”

However, Gadd previously called for the stalker’s identity not to be revealed. “Please don’t speculate about who the people might be in real life. That is not the intention of our show,” he wrote on his Instagram Story.

Other fans also see the irony of the manhunt for the stalker: “You just watched a show about an obsessed stalker and now you’re trying to find all the details about the real woman and share her information…” said one -user.
