Disney got rid of Snow White. At least: an actress who plays Snow White in Disney World in the American state of Florida. The woman in question, Sophia Dottir, announced this herself in a video on YouTube. “So many people do what I did,” she defends herself.

In a 25-minute video, which has been viewed almost 200,000 times in two weeks, Sophia Dottir says that she was part of the ‘Disney College’ program, a kind of internship program for American students, but that she is now the subject of investigation because “breaking a character’s integrity online”. In more understandable terms: she posted images of herself online as Snow White, among others, and that is prohibited at the House of Mouse. To “keep the magic alive,” actors are not allowed to reveal that they are playing one of the famous Disney characters at the theme parks.

Dottir’s Instagram page contains several photos and videos of herself as Snow White, but also as Princess Anna from Frozen and cowgirl Jessie out ToyStory. According to the young woman, she was summoned by her supervisors because of those photos, who told her that she was under investigation. She said she had to hand over her employee badge and was subsequently removed from the site. Three days later she received a phone call that she had been fired, she says.

Prove

The American complains that the rules do not seem to apply to everyone, as she knows of colleagues who have committed the same ‘crime’ without further consequences. “So many people are doing what I did. So why am I the one who got fired?” she wonders. “I have the proof, because of course I scoured social media and took a screenshot of every example I could find.”

To the showbiz site TMZ Dottir says that her former colleagues send her many messages of support, and are relieved that someone is addressing the “intense working conditions” in the Disney parks. The American now wants to focus on her studies and on with her life.
