Did Gene Bervoets’ character (68) kill his granddaughter or not? In ‘Assizes: the insulin murder’ it is up to the viewers to judge on Tuesday. It is only determined one hour before broadcast which episode will be broadcast.

For six episodes, An Miller and Filip Peeters made their case on Play4. Now it’s up to the viewers of Assizes as a popular jury to judge the fate of Dirk Dejager (Gene Bervoets), the grandfather who, according to his own words, helped his granddaughter take his own life. It is the second time that the interactive fiction series allows the public to vote on the verdict. Two different scenarios were run: one in which the defendant is guilty, and one in which he is acquitted.

Judging is possible until Tuesday evening at 8 p.m. An hour later, at 9:15 p.m., the winning episode will air. Next week, viewers will find out in the final episode whether they were right. That was the case last year: Violet Braeckman’s character was innocent. (dvg)
