Since Nicky Hayen took over the sporting helm, Club Brugge has been running at full speed. Blue and Black have now won seven times in a row. Hayen explains what changed after the departure of his predecessor Ronny Deila.

After last Wednesday’s 0-4, Club Brugge now also won on the field against Racing Genk with a large 0-3 score and took the lead in the Jupiler Pro League. Nicky Hayen has restarted the Bruges engine that sputtered under Ronny Deila. Hayen explains what changed after Deila’s departure.

“It is clear that there is a lot of quality in the group. Sometimes you have to strike the right chord with players and give them confidence. We have done that from day one and we have also had many conversations.”

“You also have to dare to allow players to make mistakes during training, but you have to be firm about it. So we have gone match by match and then you get into a flow and you seize your moments,” says Nicky Hayen, who is also with us. already talked about the strength of his team.

Now that the excellent results are coming in quick succession, the coach sees that his team is in a positive flow. Now it’s a matter of holding on to that for a few more weeks and then it could be a great end to the season for Club Brugge.

“You notice that a group is hungry and eager not to hand that over anymore. There is a very good dynamic in the group and you see that the substitutes also definitely have their added value and then you have a very strong whole. The staff works well and conveys it very clearly to the players.”
