Barbara Gandolfi (48) appeared before the Bruges council chamber on Friday morning in a large-scale investigation into human trafficking and sexual exploitation. The Ostend woman was behind bars last weekend after visiting her ex-father-in-law in jail. Gandolfi herself insists she has nothing to do with the facts.
The ex-girlfriend of French star actor Jean-Paul Belmondo ended up in prison last weekend. The Ostend woman went to visit her father-in-law in the cell, but was then put in handcuffs herself. The reason? Frédéric V. (49), her ex-husband and the father of her children, is considered by the West Flemish public prosecutor’s office as a key figure in a broken prostitution gang.

The man in his forties is said to have lured young women from Eastern Europe to our country and then had them work in a bar or striptease club. According to the public prosecutor’s office, the women were also sexually exploited. Frédéric V. has been in jail for several weeks and so has Gandolfi recently.
Bruges council chamber
A total of nine people have been arrested, including Gandolfi. She appeared before the Bruges council chamber on Friday morning, although it is currently unclear what exactly Gandolfi’s role is. “My client denies all involvement,” says lawyer Louis De Groote. The council chamber decided to extend Gandolfi’s detention by one month.
