Kampen residents encouraged to adopt a healthier lifestyle

--

In collaboration with local healthcare partners, the APPEL research project was launched in Kampen in December 2023. This four-year initiative aims to investigate and improve the effectiveness of lifestyle advice within general practices, with the involvement of residents and healthcare professionals. The rise of chronic diseases and other health challenges demands action, and promoting healthy lifestyles is crucial.

The research not only focuses on encouraging residents to make healthier choices, but also on investigating the role of general practitioners and other healthcare providers in providing lifestyle advice. Collaboration with various local organizations, including the GGD, Goedzorg, WijZ and the Municipality of Kampen, is essential for promoting a healthy community. The project is financed by ZonMw.

Residents are encouraged to actively work on their own lifestyle, and for those who don’t know where to start, Sportservice Kampen is ready to help. Councilor Jan Peter van der Sluis emphasizes the importance of the project and states the need to move from thinking to doing to reduce pressure on healthcare and contribute to a healthier society. Initiatives such as the Local Health Agenda and the Healthy and Active Living Agreement aim to promote lifestyle and create a society in which a healthy lifestyle is the norm.
