TVWarner Bros is working on a documentary about the feud between Taylor Swift and Scooter Braun. The two-part documentary ‘Taylor Swift vs. Scooter Braun: Bad blood’ can be seen on streaming service Paramount+ in the United Kingdom in June.
A few years ago, Braun sold the rights to Swift’s first six albums for more than $300 million to an investment fund after previously acquiring the rights when he took over record label Big Machine Record. Swift reacted angrily to the events in 2019 and accused Braun of harassing her for years. The world-famous star manager suffered his downfall due to the feud and subsequently became the most hated person in his profession. Other stars such as Demi Lovato and Ariana Grande also distanced themselves from Braun.
The documentary series now highlights both sides of the story. One episode examines the position of Swift, who claims he had no say in acquiring the rights to the master recordings. The other episode addresses Braun’s accusations, stating that Swift refused to negotiate and instead stoked a public feud.
The series not only offers viewers a comprehensive masterclass in music rights, but also explores gender dynamics in the music industry and the influence of fandom. The series’ participants include legal experts, journalists and insiders from both the Swift and Braun camps. The documentary can be seen in June.
