Barbara Gandolfi (48) has responded for the first time about her release from prison. She was arrested in March for her alleged role in human trafficking and sexual exploitation.

Gandolfi was allowed to leave prison last week after almost six weeks with an ankle bracelet. She was arrested at the end of March when she went to visit her ex-father-in-law in jail. This concerns the father of Frédéric V. (49), her ex-husband and father of her children. Her ex-father-in-law is considered by the West Flemish justice system to be a key figure in a broken-up prostitution gang.

The man is suspected of luring young women from Eastern Europe to work in an Ostend bar or striptease club. However, the court suspects him of sexually exploiting the women. The public prosecutor’s office talks about a file of human trafficking and sexual exploitation. Nine people have been arrested, including Gandolfi.

“After seven long weeks, I am finally back home,” Gandolfi wrote on Instagram on Monday. “These seven weeks also have a positive outcome, where I have been able to put various things from the past into perspective. Has this had an impact? Certainly, but it has also taught me a great life lesson. Know that you are never alone and that you can overcome anything.”
