From car accidents to being on fire, these are everyday tasks for many stuntmen in Hollywood and ‘The Fall Guy’ also contains many spectacular action scenes. “They keep pushing their limits and they’ve done some incredible stunts,” Ryan confirms in the interview. “I try to do as few stunts as possible. I prefer to leave the really challenging actions to the professionals in this world,” he adds.

Yet he couldn’t completely avoid it: for one scene, Ryan had to fall no less than twelve floors. “I even wear sunglasses in that scene because you can see the fear in my eyes,” he reveals. “But what I did there is just a small taste of the real thing,” he assures.

Yet his co-star, Emily Blunt, is extremely proud of his stunt. “I would never have done it myself,” she admits. Because Emily also leaves the spectacular actions in the film to a few stunt women. “I’m always happy and relieved when they show up on set, because I know they’re doing those impossible stunts for me,” Emily adds. “Several stuntmen and women worked on this film. There are some who set themselves on fire and others who fell over in a car. I have a lot of admiration for that,” she then explains. “When you see them preparing, they are so zen, they listen to music and are ultra focused. They are the best people on set.”

Hopelessly in love

But ‘The Fall Guy’ isn’t just about the different stunts. It also tells the love story of Colt and Lisa, played by Ryan and Emily. In the film they may be hopelessly in love, but in reality they are just two friends, two colleagues. “We hit it off right away, but it’s hard to explain where that chemistry came from: it just felt good between us,” Emily explains. “Maybe it was because we were both aiming for the same result in the scenes. Ryan is great to have by your side. He is funny and managed to cheer me up every time. It was nice to be with him every day,” she adds.

And Ryan also shares the same opinion about this. “You see it in the movie. Emily and I had a wonderful time together. Despite all the chaos on set, Emily remained calm. She has that rare quality that you want on a set,” Ryan finally concludes.
