Mobility organization Touring, in collaboration with insurer AG Insurance and bank BNP Paribas Fortis, has launched an online sales platform for young second-hand cars and stock cars: Touring CarSelect. Only authorized dealers will be able to offer their vehicles on it.

The majority of newly registered cars are second-hand and buyers are now searching online for a new car, explains Touring CarSelect CEO Walter Torfs. Amid a “proliferation of sites and platforms,” the new platform under the Touring brand aims to stand for “quality,” he says.
That is why only authorized dealers will be able to offer their cars there. They must sign a charter and, among other things, submit to regular inspections of vehicles offered by Touring. Only stock cars or second-hand cars that are a maximum of 5 years old and have traveled a maximum of 150,000 kilometers are also eligible to be offered on CarSelect.
According to Torfs, this method distinguishes CarSelect from other sales platforms and should give buyers more confidence. “Our first criterion is quality,” the CEO emphasizes. The car market is “evolving due to changing regulations from diesel to petrol, to hybrid and to electric cars” and “that encourages people to be cautious”. CarSelect wants to respond to this “with independent information”.
Dealers must take out a subscription to offer cars on CarSelect, with flexible fees depending on the number of advertisements. AG Insurance and BNP Paribas Fortis – the shareholders of Touring – are also trying to get their share through the platform: in addition to roadside assistance at Touring, the costs for insurance with AG Insurance and financing with BNP Paribas Fortis can be simulated. However, the customer – who will also have to physically visit the dealer involved to finalize the sale – has a free choice.
