@Weltschmerz next n1 is about Proximus’ fixed network, and not about their mobile network.

At the age of 100, my grandmother still lives on her own, one street away from me. She has a personal alarm that is connected to the landline telephone line. For example, if she falls, she can press a button and the family will be informed, or possibly the emergency services if the family cannot be reached.

A while back she came to my door. She wanted to go to sleep, but she always heard a voice saying something, but what exactly was unclear.
I then went with her, and that voice came from her personal alarm box with the message that contact could not be made with the emergency center.
I then checked her phone, and sure enough it was a dead line. Plugged a phone into the point where the phone line entered the house, and died there too. Then, it was already after 10 p.m., I contacted Proximus customer service and explained the case. If I wanted, I could get a technician that same night, subject to prior notice. I told them that this was not necessary, but if someone could come by in the morning, I could be there and provide the necessary explanation. The next day a technician was on our doorstep at 8am. Fifteen minutes later the error was corrected (loose wire in the neighborhood cupboard).
