The first blow was already achieved at the end of February when it comes to making an impact: the authors of Green Planet, Green Care handed over their green-covered book in The Hague to the Parliamentary Committee on Health, Welfare and Sport.
In this handbook, the authors: GP in training Evelyn Brakema, primary care doctor Juliette Mattijsen, psychiatrist Jurjen Luykx and professor of intensive care Diederik Gommers, introduce readers to the concepts of ‘planetary health’, sustainable care and climate justice. They focus specifically on healthcare providers who want to contribute to sustainability in their daily practice, and put forward experts in the various chapters. The tone is ‘optimistic’ (you can do this today) and a bit activist. The print is sometimes a bit small (back cover), but the ambitions are big. The (unfortunately only) two intermezzos are beautiful, in which art and sustainability come together. The Green Care Alliance has a podcast series about green care in all its facets, which is cross-referenced with handy QR codes.
