Confusion after the second semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest. Anyone who followed the match on VRT 1 and wanted to send a text message did not receive a confirmation. “However, we did show the correct number,” the channel said.
On Thursday evening, many viewers expressed their dissatisfaction on social media. When they wanted to vote for their favorite candidates via the number that appeared on screen during the broadcast, their text messages didn’t seem to arrive. Last night the public broadcaster could not find out what the problem was, but there is now an answer.
“We want to reassure everyone: it is not a wrong number,” VRT said. “The EBU (European Broadcasting Union, the organizer of the event, ed.) has two in circulation, one for Flanders and one for Wallonia. What is used by the RTBF is also available on the festival’s official website. That’s because they provide the candidate this year. For example, last year, when Gustaph represented us, our number was on that website.”

Striking pancarte
