Lando Norris won his first race last weekend in Miami. The British McLaren driver had to wait a few years, but now he was finally allowed to celebrate. Images soon emerged of an old promise from Norris, which he now has to fulfill.
Norris has been seen for years as one of Formula 1’s greatest talents. In recent years, however, that long-awaited victory has not materialized. Some even thought it would never happen, but Norris proved his critics wrong. In Miami he rode a stable and strong race. He managed to keep Max Verstappen behind him, and he was very happy with that. But now he will probably have to keep a promise.
Immediately after his victory, images from a 2018 vlog surfaced. Norris walks along the pond at the McLaren Technology Center. His cameraman asks if one can swim in the water, after which Norris promises that he will jump into the pond when he takes his first victory. Formula 1’s social media department has resurfaced the images, and they ask McLaren and Norris on a date.
