Dozens of climbers have been stuck for more than an hour on a high-altitude course on Yandang Mountain in China’s Zhejiang province. The hallucinatory images were shared on social media. This shows that the climbers have to hang on to a steep cliff, simply because there are too many people on the climbing route. Due to the Chinese May holiday, several people had traveled to the area.

“Due to an incorrect estimate of how many people would come, the lack of effective controls regarding our ticket system and our shortcomings on site, customers were temporarily stuck on the climbing route,” the climbing route organization responded in a statement. They also added that they temporarily halted ticket sales, causing the issue to resolve itself. In the future there would also be a better control system.

Yandang Mountain is 1,150 meters high and is located about 410 kilometers south of Shanghai.
