ALMEN – The script is already ready for the Juliana Almen music association. Just over a week and a half and then the time has come. All members will then go on a three-day music trip to Luxembourg and Germany.

By Arjen Dieperink

The members of the association trickle into the village hall ‘Ons Huis’. It is one of the last times that they can practice together before they leave on May 18. Several concerts are scheduled for those three days. On the first day the musicians drive to Clervaux (Luxembourg) where they perform in the afternoon on the stage in the pedestrian zone. After five o’clock you have time to enjoy yourself.
On the second day they travel to Trier for a concert and on the last day there is a morning concert under the Atrium of Cloef. The group then heads home.
“It is a busy program but everyone is looking forward to it,” says Selma van Os. “We have been planning for more than a year. To see where we were going, we first drew a circle of five to six hundred kilometers around Almen. Furthermore, you should not travel,” says Nienke Mensink.
Selma and Nienke are enthusiastic about the trip and have put a lot of energy into the planning. Through the Harmonie Gorssel-Eefde they came into contact with Orpheus, who organizes trips for music associations. “All members are coming along, the youngest of our group is about fifteen years old and the oldest is 92. But there is still some practice to be done,” the ladies say as the members climb the stairs to the practice room at the top of Ons House.
