The body of the last victim has been found in Baltimore, USA after a bridge collapse that killed six people at the end of March. This was announced by the authorities of the state of Maryland.

The Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore collapsed on March 26 after the container ship Dali collided with one of the bridge pillars. At the time, eight workers were repairing the road surface on the bridge. Two of them could be rescued, the six others were reported missing. Authorities have now identified the sixth and final victim. The body of José Mynor López, a 37-year-old worker from Baltimore, was found Tuesday.

“It’s incredibly important that we were able to bring all these Marylanders home and give their families some closure,” said Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott. He thanked the teams responsible for the salvage operation, adding that work to reopen the canal continues.

The bridge collapse led to the blockage of maritime transport in one of the busiest ports in the United States. A temporary shipping route was opened to allow ships essential for rescue and clean-up operations to pass through. The US Federal Police FBI and the National Transportation Safety Board NTSB have opened an investigation into the accident.
