The Russian armed forces have images of fighter planes painted on military airfields, apparently to confuse the Ukrainians when they carry out attacks. This was reported by the British Ministry of Defense, which shared an aerial photo of such a fake aircraft at a Russian base in Crimea.
British authorities say similar illustrations have also been spotted at at least a dozen other air bases. The attempt at deception would be “completely undermined” by the fact that Russian helicopters regularly land on the images of fighter planes.
The ministry calls it likely that the Russians are resorting to such tricks after a series of successful Ukrainian attacks on military targets. The United Kingdom is an important ally of Ukraine. The British ministry publishes daily messages about the conflict on messaging service X.
