‘The Girls on the Bus’ – Streamz

The presidential elections will take place in the United States at the end of this year and we will know whether Joe Biden will be allowed to remain in office or whether Donaly Trump will return to the White House. But if you can’t get enough of the elections across the pond, then ‘The Girls on the Bus’, based on the novel ‘Chasing Hillary’ about Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign in 2016, is definitely recommended.

In the series, four female journalists follow every move of the presidential candidates. This includes Sadie McCarthy (Melissa Benoist), a journalist who romanticizes her job and gives up her entire life for a chance to interview a presidential candidate.

Sadie joins the campaign bus and forms a bond with three female competitors: Grace (Carla Gugino), Lola (Natasha Behnam) and Kimberlyn (Christina Elmore). Despite their differences, the women develop a close friendship during the battle for the White House.

‘Dopesick’ – VRT MAX

‘Dopesick’ takes you to the epicenter of the battle against addiction to the strong painkillers opioids – which have more or less the same effect as morphine – in the United States.

The series shows how families and individuals are affected by its use. The conflicts of interest between drug magnate Purdue Pharma and various government agencies that want to protect the population show what happens in the heat of battle. But the focus is on the high-profile case against the company and their development, testing and marketing around the drug OxyContin, which is twice as powerful as morphine. It is extremely addictive and the number of overdoses has grown over the years, worrying the US government.

‘Dopesick is based on the non-fiction book ‘Dopesick: Dealers, Doctors, and the Drug Company that Addicted America’ by Beth Macy. The series received many positive reviews from critics, especially due to the performances of the cast. In addition, lead actor Michael Keaton won as ‘Lead Actor’ at the Golden Globe Awards.

‘Life & Beth’ season 2 – Disney+

The first season of ‘Life & Beth’ appealed to many people, with a score of 90% on Rotten Tomatoes. Time for season 2, a sequel once again created by lead actress Amy Schumer.

Beth’s life is great, she makes a good living as a wine distributor, is in a long relationship with a successful man and lives in the heart of Manhattan, New York. But when she suddenly has to go to a funeral, she reflects on her past. Through flashbacks, Beth begins to learn more and more about how she became who she is. A journey through the past that does involve some trauma. In the second season, Beth seems ready for the next step in her relationship: marriage and children. ‘LoveMe’ – Streamz

In a new season of the dating show ‘LoveMe’, Ellen, who you may know from ‘Ex on the Beach: Double Dutch’ or ‘Shot in the Dark’, searches for true love with the help of TAGMAG Insider and wingman Martijn Spaepen.

Reality star and content creator Ellen is a communications and marketing student with a passion for social media and travel. After her striking participation in ‘Ex On The Beach: Double Dutch’, where she came across as a crazy libertine, she now wants to take a different approach and in ‘LoveMe’ she is looking for a serious lover. She longs for a partner who is there for her every day, no matter the ups and downs. Loyal, goal-oriented and playful qualities are important to her in a relationship, someone who can be both her best friend and lover. Five single men try to win Ellen’s heart.

‘Oppenheimer’ – Netflix

‘Oppenheimer’ recently received the Oscar for ‘best film’, but those who have not yet seen it now have the chance to do so on Netflix.

No film about the Second World War was as successful as ‘Oppenheimer’. The film won no fewer than seven statuettes and was therefore crowned the big winner of the Oscars. The story is about scientist J. Robert Oppenheimer, who leads the top-secret Manhattan Project. The Hungarian scientist Edward Teller, who invented the hydrogen bomb, is one of the contributors. Oppenheimer is married to Katherine, but has an affair with Jean Tatlock, a member of the Communist Party. The government considers it dangerous to the interests of American security. Oppenheimer is ultimately responsible for the invention of the atomic bomb. None other than Cillian Murphy stars in the leading role. But also Emily Blunt, Matt Damon and Robert Downey Jr. put their hands on the film.
